The Alert J4X is a non-evidential portable handheld breath testing device.

The ALERT J4X is one of a series of portable breath testers which were designed to meet the international standards for such devices. It is completely automatic in function, utilizing the latest in microcomputer technology.

By employing patented breath sampling and alcohol detection principles, this device determines when a proper sample of breath has been taken, electronically senses the alcohol concentration of the sample, and instantly displays the blood alcohol concentration (BAC). In order to ensure that a proper sample of deep lung air is analyzed, the Alert J4X employs a patented flow sampling technique. An individual must blow moderately and continuously for a prescribed period of time in order to fulfill the sampling condition. This is all under the control of the microcomputer and any non-compliance results in an aborted test.
