SUPERVISORY TRAINING FOR DRUG AND ALCOHOL PROGRAMS

September 8, 2005

Supervisor training has proven essential to the success for a drug & alcohol program by giving supervisors the tools they need to do the job.

As a refresher course the supervisor reviews the program procedures and is brought up-to-date on any new information on Canadian and U.S. regulations, testing technology, etc.

Supervisors in a U.S. DOT Drug & Alcohol Program must have supervisors complete training to comply with US FHWA 49 CFR, Part 382.

The comprehensive certification training workshop will include:
• Drug & Alcohol Awareness; procedures for dealing with a troubled employee including a detailed handout
• The most commonly used illicit, prescription, and over-the-counter drugs and the consequences of use
• Developing and implementing a program with policy and procedure review
• The do's and don'ts of testing with Human Rights, The Controlled Substance Act and other legislative issues
• Review of the most commonly asked question by employees and suggested responses
• USFHWA regulations review of 49 CFR Parts 382 and 40 with up-to-dated interpretations of regulations
